Frank C. Cherry, EN1(SS) Obituary

Petty Officer Cherry entered into Eternal Patrol on August 27, 2023.

He served aboard Segundo 1947-1948.

Qualified in submarines on the USS Segundo (SS-398) in 1948 and was a EN1(SS) when he left the Navy.

Frank C. Cherry, age 93 of Stewart, TN, passed away Sunday, August 27, 2023 at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN.

Graveside services for immediate family will be held Monday, September 11, 2023 at Fort Donelson National Cemetery with Bro. Dennis Kirk officiating. Full military honors will be rendered. A Celebration of Life Service for family and friends will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Poppy Ridge Event Center, 1807 Hwy 49, Erin, TN, 37061.

Frank entered this life on November 5, 1929 in Dover, TN, son to the late W.E. and Mae Bush Cherry. Frank proudly served his country in the United States Navy where he retired after 20 years of service. Following his military service, he joined the local Steamfitters and Pipefitters Union. Frank later retired from TVA, and was a member of both the Disabled American Veterans and American Legionhe was also a faithful member of McKinnon United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his first wife, Lexie McGowan Cherry, second wife, Agnes Cherry, daughter, Debbie Cherry Walters; step-children, Sharon Baggett, Butch Martin; and son in laws, Richard Rye, Vaughn Walters, and Brian Westmoreland.
